I started painting in 2004 in Watercolour, when I joined an Art Group at my local village Hall, having not painted or drawn anything since my schooldays (many years ago!).
I quickly realised that pastels were my preferred medium and I was taught the basics in landscape painting, by the tutor. I soon found that animals were my forte and have since painted hundreds of dogs, cats, wildlife etc. I love all animals, especially dogs, so I never tire of painting them.
I paint on (pastel) sandpaper and also velour and use soft pastels as a base and pastel pencils to add detail, as I’ve found that gives a more realistic look. I have had no formal training and have developed my own style over the last few years.
I exhibit at the Cheltenham Art in the Park Exhibition every year and I am a member of the committee. I also exhibit with The Wildlife Art Society International (TWASI) in Gloucester. I have been a member of the Cotswold Art Club since 2007 and took on the role of Exhibitions Organiser soon after.
